English for us
“English for us” is a full-year English course for people with intellectual disabilities, a unique project executed by professionals with an exceptional attitude and enjoying their work immensely: Agnieszka and Adam Mold from AmberShire.
We currently teach 22 disabled persons.
The project also includes theatre classes in English and shows staged in theatres crown the full-year work. Intellectually disabled actors or participants in the course stage a performance in English each year! The audience consists of the invited guests, representatives of city authorities, acquaintances and friends and schoolchildren (about 700 students from Tri-City schools every year).
We love listening to music and we also want to create it!
We try to make it possible for our charges to realise their music dreams and passions. For example, we managed to establish the first group of people with intellectual disabilities playing Caribbean drums in Poland. The first workshop was held in August 2014, another one on August 24-28, 2015 and we plan regular weekly playing lessons as of September 2015.

Fan Club of the Dream Home
We participate in sports events regularly. We support teams from Gdynia such as Vistal Gdynia, Lotos Gdynia and Asseco Gdynia.
In practice, all matches played by these teams, sometimes also away games, take place with “our” fans present. The fact that we manage to activate fathers of disabled young people is a very important benefit of the project.
We execute the project thanks to the cooperation with GKK Arka SA and Basketball Investments Sportowa Spółka Akcyjna.
We, the audience
Our charges participate in the cultural life of the city. We can often be seen in a theatre or at concerts. It is possible thanks to the openness of places like the Danuta Baduszkowa Music Theatre, Centre of Culture in Gdynia or Ucho Music Club to our needs.
The cooperation with these institutions is extremely important for us, also because the price of standard tickets to events usually remains beyond the capability of families with disabled members even with a discount (especially if the disabled person is unable to move without a caretaker).
What is more, our young people create art themselves by preparing a performance in English every year. It is presented on stage in a theatre and the audience is very enthusiastic.
The topic of sexuality of people with intellectual disabilities is extremely important and difficult at the same time, both for the disabled and for people close to them. Therefore, we take a range of actions to bring that topic closer to the people. We organize training, workshops, conferences and lectures, (e.g. Gdańsk University, April 2014,Kraków, December 2014).
On April 14-15, 2016 a conference titled “Sexuality of people with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum. Difficult questions, good solutions” was held in the Pomeranian Science and Technology Park in Gdynia. The Dream Home was a co-organiser of the event and President of the Foundation Katarzyna Karczewska gave lectures that enjoyed great interest (see the photo report HERE).
Here We Are
“See, here we are” and “What do you think when you look at me” are projects and workshops organized by us in order to change the image of the disabled and also to communicate their problems such as the needs of adulthood and independence.
Our dreams reach far, also in the literal meaning of the word. We want to travel and see the world. We organize local trips and managed to visit Warsaw in May 2015.
We do not give up our dreams of travel to really remote destinations!
Taste of Dreams
It is a special project under which our charges learn independence by cooking.
With Jola Słoma and Mirek Trymbulak from Atelier Smaku, they prepare culinary recipes and individual editions / recipes are made available in the form of videos.
Joint time, joint case
We spend time together; the time for play, cooperation and action cannot be underestimated.
Therefore, we organize numerous meetings, support groups, varied integration events, picnics, carnival balls, St. Andrew’s Day meetings, St. Nicholas’ Day celebrations and many other events as a part of our activity. Our charges participated in the Cavalcade of Magi in Gdańsk in January 2014 and 2015 and helped the President of the City of Gdynia hand out awards at the “Gdynia with no barriers” gala in May 2015.
